Using the sun and ethically harvested pheasant wings, I develop the image of the feathers on the fabric with the sun. Everything the sun touches turns a deep blue, leaving a white negative of the feathers.
This is approximately a 20x20 fabric panel work. An image of a pair of pheasant wings is printed on the fabric. The wings are in full spread, as if the bird was taking off. They are reminiscent of angel wings.
***Each exposure is slightly different because they are individually printed with sunlight.
Everything the sun touches develops into the deep blue.
The feathers leave a white negative image ranging in exposure of detail surrounded by deep blue. I arrange every feather on EACH textile piece. My artwork is inspired by the beauty of it's subject: feathers. The feathers come from ethically harvested wild birds; harvested by myself, my husband, or a close friend.
